Cam Nasty tops the Expert Open Class at Nationals!

Deciding to enter the Expert Open class at this weekends Nationals was master tuner Dean Charrier’s idea. The plan, Dean was to supply a wicked fast FZR and Cam was to pilot it to victory. That’s just what happend. Monster holeshot after monster holeshot made for an easy win for Cam Nasty. Black Star Motorsports wants to thank Dean for adding icing to the cake for another memorable National Championship race.

Cam was also on the verge of spoiling Rob Greenwald’s birthday weekend in the Runabout N/A Spec class. After holeshoting Greenwald in the final moto, Cam only needed to finish ahead of Rob to take the National victory. An unfortunate 3rd lap wipeout had Cam Nasty swimming and gave Rob the best birthday gift he got all weekend. Congrats to fellow Yamaha riders Rob and Cam for going 1 – 2 at Nationals.

Meet Dallas Carpenter, the winner of the Hidden Trails / Black Star Race Edition Can-Am Commander 1000x!   This raffle could not have been won by a more deserving young man.  Dallas actually had purchased his raffle tickets at the Dirt Track Expo at Hooters back in March.  A few nights before the final drawing, Dallas had wrecked his dirt track race car in a race in Ripley, WV.   After receiving my call about winning the grand prize, he thought his buddies were messing with him.  Classic!  Nothing like winning a wicked 1000cc monster to rip it up in the woods to put a huge smile back on your face.

Congrats Dallas!

New FZR race parts from PHX and Black Star!

Last season we were able to debut some bad azz carbon fiber parts from Phoenix at PHX design & fab in Havasu.    Phoenix has been working hard this offseason helping us develop a new light weight rear “pony” seat for the FZR.   This is the first of many products in the collaboration with PHX and Black Star Motorsports.  Phoenix deserves the lion share of props for this project.   He did a lot of fine tuning, wanting to achieve the best fitting race seat on the market.

This rear seat will flow as much air as the full one-piece light weight seats, only difference is you get the ride comfort of your OEM front seat.  Those of you who’ve taken a spine rattling hit from the lack of padding in on a light weight one-piece seat know exactly what I’m talking about.   Your engine will perform better by keeping your engine bay dry and cooler and your backside will thank you after the race.

This is the finished prototype and he is taking pre-orders now.   Seat will be priced right at $595 and visible carbon finish seats will be available at an additional cost.   All orders can be handled directly through PHX at www.phxfab.com.   PHX also has some of the most stylish Kawi Ultra hoods and seats out there.  Stay tuned for more exciting parts coming out of the “Swamp” in Havasu.

Black Star Motorsports is proud to represent Optima Racing

“OptimaRacing.com was formed by riders for riders to bring all of the best brands and best parts together at great prices, with top notch customer service. Black Star to Distribute SPEED Energy!!!

Press Release:

Since last October Black Star Motorsports and SPEED Energy have been working hard to expand the SPEED Energy brand to the state of West Virginia and surrounding areas.  We are happy to announce that Black Star Distributing was created to bring these unique products to market. Its also the area’s exclusive SPEED Energy distributor. “Its very exciting for us to work with the racing legend Robby Gordon. The products are great and the crew at SPEED Energy have bent over backwards to help us get this venture off the ground. I can’t say enough about them”, Trey Frame said.

SPEED Energy Drink is a result of Robby Gordon’s passion for speed, on and off the race track. Over the last nine years, Robby has been associated with leading energy drink companies, Red Bull and Monster Energy. His involvement with these companies fueled his desire to create his own energy drink business. With SPEED Energy, Robby was able to formulate the same energy with a healthy ingredient profile and superior flavor to other energy drinks…without the aftertaste or the medicine like taste.

Stay tuned for more info about Black Star Motorsports’ PWC and UTV race programs promoting SPEED Energy for the 2012 season.

Black Star Taking to the Dirt!

Black Star Taking to the Dirt!
The Team
Three enthusiastic brothers and one friend from along the way make up the race team. Trey and Cameron Frame bring with them the Black Star Racing team and years of wildly successful endeavors in the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour. Stephen Frame has been a critical team-mate during those times as a crew member and team promoter.

Stephen Frame and Andy Moss are the founders of Blackrock SxS and have been OHV enthusiasts for decades. Together their experiences include motocross racing, ATVs, rock crawling, off-road expeditions, and of course side by sides. They are both members of Mountaineer Off-road, Inc. and have been instrumental over the years in planning the clubs annual West Virginia Childrens’ Charities Off Road Jamboree; an event that has contributed countless donations of toys, clothes, and dollars to Secret Santa of West Virginia and other charities.

Through this combination of riders the team will be rich in experience in areas ranging from competitive motorsports competition to recreational riding to event organization and promotion. And after many years of success they are now looking to add to that list with competitive off-road racing.

The Plan
The team will race in the UTVRR and GNCC series throughout 2012 mainly as good practice and shakedown for the vehicles. Neither of these series are desert racing but they are generally in east coast locations and won’t require extensive travel. And besides that, they’re all part of the fun. The season will finale at the famous “BAJA 1000”. So buckle up and fasten your helmets. Jump in and ride along with us as we travel through the stages of building the next big thing for Black Star Racing and Blackrock SxS. It’s going to be one helluva ride.

Yamaha FZR and VXR Riders Win National Titles

From FZWaverunner.com

CHARLESTON, WV – The last checkered flag of the 2011 UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour dropped Sunday with Yamaha racers filling up the podium and leaving town with a truck load of national titles.

Highlighting the weekend was multi-time world and national champion Chris MacClugage who led the Yamaha contingent; winning the premier Pro Stock Runabout class aboard his Macc Racing, Dean’s Team Yamaha FZR. Mac dominated the class all summer long and is the man to beat at the IJSBA World Finals in October. Also winning a national title on a Yamaha FZR is Dean’s Team’s Jordan McLean who finished the tour undefeated. McLean rode his Yamaha FZR flawlessly all summer long and also looks tough to beat at the World Finals.

Speaking of undefeated, the Yamaha VXR won the national title in in the new Normally Aspirated class, driven by Yamaha Black Star Racing rider Trey Frame. Brother and teammate Cameron Frame finished second in the class. Although the brothers are tight off the closed course, the two battled all summer long trading wins on their Yamaha VXR and VXS. This is the first year of competition for the Yamaha VXR and VXS.

“We are thrilled with the results this year. Chris on the FZR showed how strong this boat is straight out the box. The Frame brothers started an entirely new racing experience aboard the VXR in the N/A class, and Jordan McLean scored a victory in the Limited class,” said Yamaha product manager and IJSBA Hall of Fame inductee Scott Watkins. “There’s a reason why you are seeing more and more Yamaha’s on the starting line every year.”

Yamaha FZR and VXR Invade Canada with 25 Podium Finishes

From FZWaverunner.com

BELLS RIVER, Ontario — Yamaha racers invaded Bells River, Ontario on July16-17, dominating the UWP-IJSBA Canadian National with 25 podium finishes led by Macc Racing/Riva Racing/Dean’s Team rider Chris MacClugage.

MacClugage continued his stranglehold on the Pro Runabout Stock class aboard his Yamaha FZR. Macc has won nearly every moto in this premier class this season with just three rounds left in the season.

MacClugage wasn’t the only Yamaha FZR rider on a tear in Ontario with Jordan McLean winning the Pro Runabout Limited class, finishing 2-1-2 for the day. McLean has won every round this season with no signs of letting up. Joining McLean on the podium was FZR rider Aero Aswer. Riva Racing/Dean’s Team rider Trey Frame continued his breakout season finishing 1-2-2 in the Pro Runabout Open class aboard his FZR for a second place finish overall.

Some of the best news from Bells River is that the Yamaha VXR looks like a lock for the Normally Aspirated class championship in its first season of racing. Yamaha VXR riders Cameron Frame and brother Trey Frame finished 1-2 overall. The two brothers have been swapping wins all season long and continue to put on the one of the best shows on the tour. The Yamaha VXR has won every round this season in dominating fashion.

Other notable performances include Nathan McLean who won Novice Runabout Limited also aboard a Yamaha FZR.

Round 6 of the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour comes to Colonial Beach, VA on July 30-31.

Yamaha Racers Continue Winning Streak, Sunday Red Flagged Due to Fog

From FZWaverunner.com

Round 3 of the UWP-IJSBA National Tour in Racine, WI. will go down in history as one of the wildest weekends of racing in some time with heavy fog wreaking havoc on Sunday.

Saturday started out strong with Macc Racing/Riva Yamaha/Dean’s Team rider Chris MacClugage taking the moto 1 victory in Pro Runabout Stock abord his Yamaha FZR. Teammate Cameron Frame put in a hard charging effort to round off the top three in the class.

Cameron’s brother and teammate Trey Frame continued his domination of the Normally Aspirated class aboard his VXR finishing first in both motos on Saturday. Jordan McLean once again proved he is the man to beat in the Pro-Am Runabout Limited class earning 2 moto victories. And in the Pro Runabout Open class, Riva Yamaha/Dean’s Team rider Dustin Charrier pulled off a moto 1 podium finish, which was phenomenal because of the injuries he suffered at Round 2.

Mother Nature was the toughest competitor the next day with heavy fog rolling in midway of the first race of the morning and did not lift for the remainder of the day. The promoters were forced to red flag the race and the remainder of Sunday racing. Still, Yamaha racer proved that they own the closed course when Mother Natures allows.
